I am looking for a tool / algorithm to compare two images.

The images are not identical, although by eye it is easy to determine that it is the same image. From this reason comparing the md5 of the image (for example) is not useful.

I know it is not a trivial task at all, and I neither need 100% success. However, I hope someone will have some useful idea...
